Back in 2012, I volunteered as an on-air DJ at Western Michigan University’s radio station, WIDR. After a few shows, the students started calling me “Professor Pop,” and it stuck.

This past June, I once again invaded the WIDR airwaves with a new show called The In-Between Years. The show explores the rich musical landscape between 1975 and 1995, digging beyond the hits to uncover forgotten gems and influential deep tracks. From college rock, indie, and power pop to industrial, dance, and underground hip-hop, the show connects a new generation of listeners with the sounds that shaped alternative music culture.
It has been a blast! I hope you’ll join me every Monday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. online at WIDRfm.org. Or, if you’re in the Kalamazoo area, go old school and tune your radio dial to 89.1 FM. Send in your requests!
